A hole-in-one at the world famous Pebble Beach is the impossible dream for many a golfer.
But not for Queensland professional, Denis Brosnan who aced the 166 yards par 3 5th at Pebble Beach last month.
Brosnan was having his first shot with a new Accord seven iron, assembled at his Brisbane factory.
An excited spectator was the green keeper waiting at the edge of the green.
Pebble Beach is the venue for the 1982 US Open.
The golf course was in excellent condition, having been prepared to tournament conditions for the $150,000 Pebble Beach pro am, held just a week after Brosnan's ace.
"It was interesting to compare two golf courses, Pebble Beach and Coolangatta-Tweed when it was prepared for the Tooth Classic.
"Your only real problems at Coolangatta-Tweed were the trees and to some extent, the rough".
"At Pebble Beach, water came into play on eight holes, with bunkers or trees on the holes with no water and long rough".
"The trees and bunkers are situated 240 yards from the tees, making accuracy most important", said Brosnan.
Those interested in playing at Pebble Beach, take your money with you. The green fees were $50 with a $20 fee for the hire of a motorised buggy.
Brosnan was a guest of the club, saving him $50.
